Topanga Creek Watershed
The Topanga Creek Watershed is 18 square miles (12,800 acres), and has the greatest diversity of native plants and animals found in any watershed in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Topanga Creek is the third largest drainage into the Santa Monica Bay. To protect the valuable natural resources within the watershed, the Topanga Creek Watershed Committee, formed by constituents under the direction of Supervisor Ed Edelman, created the Topanga Creek Watershed Management Plan (Plan). The Plan was completed in 1996, updated in 2002, and is considered a living document that provides voluntary guidelines to the residents of Topanga.
