The trash boom is a demonstration device used for the interception, collection, and removal of floating and semi-submerged trash and debris at the mouth of the Los Angeles River, in the Port of Long Beach. The project is expected to result in improved navigation, reduced deposition of trash onto recreational areas and aquatic habitats, and an overall enhancement of water quality and visual aesthetics.
