Public Works is responsible for storm water quality, solid and hazardous waste management,
recycling programs, reviewing building construction plans for environmental issues, and a variety
of public and youth environmental education outreach programs. Public Works is committed to
protect our communities and the environment and provide a higher quality of life for the citizens
of Los Angeles County.
Solid Waste Information Management System As the regional solid waste reporting body for all 88 cities and unincorporated areas, the County has created a web application to manage disposal data collected from solid waste enterprises within the County.
Underground Storage Tanks The program regulates underground tanks in the unincorporated areas and 77 cities in the County of Los Angeles.
Big Tujunga Mitigation Bank 207-acres in the City of Los Angeles Sunland area to compensate for habitat impacted by other departmental projects.
Environmental Resources A gateway to the County's environmental outreach programs
on the Internet, including recycling, yard waste, stormwater quality, household
hazardous waste, waste tires, industrial waste, and youth education programs.
Watershed Management A division created to establish the Los Angeles County
Department of Public Works as a leader in the planning
and implementation of watershed management in Los Angeles
County.
