Teams of trained engineers working under professional supervision carry on the work of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works. A Civil Engineering Assistant may be responsible for the following essential functions: assist in the performance of detailed civil engineering work related to the design, location, construction and maintenance of Public Works structures, facilities, or projects. Work assigned to new graduate engineers is considered qualifying by the California State Board of Registration for Civil and Professional Engineers for participation in registration examinations.
 
Requirements: Graduation from an accredited college with specialization in a civil engineering curriculum approved by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology -OR- graduation from an accredited college in the State of California with specialization in Civil Engineering.
 
Engineering Benefits: $4,989.45 - $5,560.91 (BS Degree) and $5,268.00 - $5,560.91 (MS Degree). Additional benefits offered include: rotation and lateral movement opportunities among a variety of engineering and technology divisions covering every branch of civil engineering, mentoring, on-site MBA and MPA programs, educational tuition and book reimbursement, two retirement plans to choose from, savings plan and deferred compensation with County matching contribution.
