Question:
As a real estate appraiser I get asked if an earthquake gas meter shut~off is required when you do a refinance on a home. I believe it was required in LA county on a transfer of sale only. Pls. qualify. Thanks, Kurt

Within the unincorporated area of Los Angeles County, an earthquake shutoff valve is not required at the time of a sale or refinancing of a home. If a shutoff valve is installed, a plumbing plan check and permit is required.
