In June 2004, the County conducted a waste tire recycling event at the Toyota Heaquarters in the City of Torrance. The event collected 11.6 tons of tires, equivalent to 1,160 passenger tires. The Torrance Cable Channel sent a reporter and camera man to film a segment on the event. Residents that dropped off tires received discount coupons for tires and donuts, and a pen made out of recycled tires.
